Biography
Ian is a Managing Director and Head of U.S. Rates Strategy at BMO Capital Markets. His primary focus is the U.S. Treasury market with specific interests in monetary policy and economic and technical analysis. He is consistently ranked among the top strategists in the Global Fixed Income Institutional Investor Survey for US Rates Strategy, Technical Analysis, and Fixed Income Strategy.
Ian joined BMO Capital Markets from CRT Capital Group. At CRT Capital, he was part of an award-winning strategy duo, ranking first in the Institutional Investor Survey’s U.S. Government Bond Strategy category for 11 consecutive years, first in the fixed-income Technical Analysis category for five consecutive years, and runner-up in the general Fixed-Income Strategy category for seven consecutive years. Prior to CRT Capital, Ian served as Senior Interest Rate Strategist at RBS Greenwich Capital.
Ian earned an MBA from Yale School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Minnesota. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

Biography
Dan Krieter is a Director in the BMO Capital Markets Fixed Income Strategy Group. His primary focus is the high quality USD spread market, ranging from the USD SSA/agency market to investment grade corporates. He also covers interest rate derivatives and the global transition from IBORs to RFRs, Dan has a special focus on sustainable fixed income investments and leads the Group’s research in this space.
Dan is part of the #1 ranked Federal Agency Debt Strategy team (Institutional Investor, 2019), and a regular contributor to the award winning podcast, Macro Horizons, delivering weekly and monthly updates on the Fixed Income markets.
Before joining the firm in 2007, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign. Dan received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2012 and is currently a member of the CFA Institute. He also holds series 7 & 63 licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Biography
Vail Hartman is an analyst on the U.S. Rates Strategy team at BMO Capital Markets. His primary focus is the U.S. Treasury market with specific interests in Federal Reserve policy, macroeconomic dynamics, and Treasury auction processes. He provides daily coverage of US rates market activity and analysis on the economy. Before joining the strategy team, Vail took part in BMO’s global markets rotational program that provided him with a wide range of investment product experiences working in CMBS Origination, Residential Mortgage Finance, Investment Grade Credit Sales, Leveraged Finance Strategy, and Institutional Equity Sales. Prior to that, Vail was a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual and a marketing intern at the University of Michigan Credit Union.
Vail earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Michigan where he earned Athletic, and Academic All-American honors as a member of the Track & Field team.

Biography
Douglas Porter has over 30 years of experience analyzing global economies and financial markets. As Chief Economist at BMO Financial Group and author of the popular Talking Points, he oversees the macroeconomic and financial market forecasts and co-writes the firm’s weekly flagship publication, Focus. Mr. Porter manages the team that has won numerous forecasting awards. Most recently, Douglas led the team to a #1 ranking for Top U.S. Forecaster among 60 global firms in the 2023 Focus Economics Survey, and #1 for Top Canadian Inflation Forecaster among 28 firms. Also, his team took the #1 spot in the StarMine Awards for Most Accurate Forecasters for Canada in 2022.
As a respected commentator on economic and financial trends, he is regularly quoted in the national press and often interviewed on radio and television.
Douglas’ career began at the Bank of Canada; then, before joining BMO, he held the positions of Economist and Country Risk Analyst with other Canadian financial institutions.
He has been a member of C.D. Howe’s Monetary Policy Council since 2008 and serves on the Investment Management Committees of the Bank of Montreal’s Canada Pension Plan and Western’s Endowment Fund.

Biography
Scott Anderson is BMO’s Chief U.S. Economist and Managing Director. He analyzes and forecasts U.S. national and regional economic trends, and regularly authors reports on prominent U.S. economic issues, monetary policy actions, and bank lending and credit conditions. He also spearheads periodic regional outlook reports on California and other regions.
Scott has been consistently recognized as one of the top economic forecasters in the U.S. and was named the Most Accurate Forecaster by the National Association of Business Economics for 2019. His work is widely read and cited by the financial and business communities and has appeared in numerous media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Bloomberg, CNBC, BBC, and NPR.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Commonwealth Club of California. He was appointed Chairman of the American Bankers Association Economic Advisory Committee in 2012 and has served on the Committee since 2004. In 2015, he was appointed to the California Council of Economic Advisors. He has also been a member of Stanford’s Institute for Economic Policy Research (SEIPR) since 2012.
Prior to joining Bank of the West, Scott was a Senior Economist at Wells Fargo and Wells Fargo Securities. Anderson has also held positions at Moody’s Analytics in Philadelphia and the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C.Prior to joining BMO, Scott was the Chief Economist at Bank of the West, and prior to that, a Senior Economist at Wells Fargo and Wells Fargo Securities. Biography
Michael Gregory is the Deputy Chief Economist for BMO Capital Markets. He is part of the team responsible for forecasting and analyzing the North American economy and financial markets.
Michael is one of the authors of Economic Research’s weekly publication, Focus. He also co-authors the monthly Rates Scenario report that provides clients with the firm’s view on interest rates and foreign exchange rates.
He has spent his career working in either economics or financial markets research for firms on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border. Prior to his current role, Michael headed up the Financial Services Analysis team at Bank of Montreal, focusing on regulatory and industry restructuring issues, before shifting to BMO Capital Markets Economics in 2004. He moved to Chicago in 2013, providing research support for the U.S. and Canadian fixed income business, before returning to Toronto in 2016.
Michael is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal and Western University in London, Ontario. He did doctoral studies at Fordham University in New York City, and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Jennifer Lee

Jennifer has been with BMO Capital Markets Economics for well over two decades and is perhaps best known for her analysis on the U.S. economy, as well as her commentary on global financial market and economic activity. Her entertaining, easy-to-understand and call-it-like-it-is style has earned her a devoted following. Jennifer is a regular in the media and is a frequent guest on Bloomberg. Most recently, for the second year in a row, she took the #3 spot in the 2024 Focus Economics Survey for Euro Area policy rates among 24 global firms and, also secured the #1 spot for forecasting the British pound among 28 firms.
Prior to joining BMO, Jennifer was an economic analyst at another Canadian bank. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Benjamin has been with the Bank of Montreal nearly two decades. He is re-sponsible for the Canadian macro-economic forecast, and plays a key role in forecasting interest rates and currencies. From his seat on the trading desk, Benjamin provides dedicated research support to the Canadian Fixed Income business. Over the past eight years, he has built the market profile of the Canadian Rates Strategy effort, which has gained significant traction globally. The CRV Weekly and Reitzes Stuff have become BMO’s flagship Canadian Strategy publications, providing clients with market commentary and actionable trade ideas. In addition, he contributes to the Economics Department’s global economic forecasts and its various publications, such as AM Notes, Focus and econoFacts. Benjamin is a regular commentator on economic and financial trends to the media.
Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree in Economics from Carleton University.
Robert Kavcic

Robert has been with BMO Capital Markets since 2006. He plays a key role in analyzing economic, fiscal and real estate trends in Canada. Sal Guatieri

Sal is a Senior Economist and Director at BMO Capital Markets, with three decades experience as a macro economist. With BMO since 1994, his main responsibilities include analyzing and forecasting the U.S. economy, Canadian and U.S. housing markets and commercial real estate markets. He is responsible for the Department’s economic forecasts prepared for regulatory and stress testing requirements and oversees analysis of financial services markets. He is a regular commentator in the media.
Prior to joining BMO, Sal worked at the Bank of Canada, contributing to its quarterly economic projection and analyzing foreign exchange markets. Sal received his master’s degree in Economics from Queen’s University in 1990.
